What the Shopping Quantity Planner actually calculates

The requirement receives the waste or spare percentage, is divided by pack coverage, and rounds up to whole packs. Purchased quantity is packs times coverage, while expected spare subtracts the original requirement, not the waste-adjusted figure. It therefore includes the planned allowance as well as pack-rounding surplus, before any real cutting loss or damage.

The calculation path

Required quantity is increased by waste, divided by pack coverage, and rounded up; actual coverage and leftover are shown.

Inputs that can change the answer

  • Required quantity: Enter required quantity as a number; use the definition in the calculation method.
  • Quantity per pack: Coverage in one complete pack from the product specification.
  • Waste or spare: Percentage applied at the stage shown in the method; enter 10 for ten percent.
  • Price per pack: Enter price per pack in the selected currency; keep tax and included work consistent.
  • Currency: Label for all entered prices; no currency conversion is performed.

Checks that stay outside the formula

Keep enough labeled spare stock to repair the most visible future damage.

A practical order for entering the data

  1. Enter the required area or count using one consistent quantity unit.
  2. Enter coverage or item count per pack, the spare percentage, and the price per complete pack.
  3. Review whole packs, purchased quantity, and spare quantity before placing the order.

Engine check using the prefilled sample

Planning example: required quantity = 24, quantity per pack = 2.2, waste or spare = 10 %, price per pack = 35 and currency = USD ($). These sample choices show the rule path only; use the options that reflect the room and priorities you actually have.

Shopping Quantity Planner — Questions to test against the room

Is expected spare guaranteed to remain after installation?

No. It is purchased quantity minus the original requirement. Material consumed by cuts or damage reduces what actually remains.

Can I mix square metres required with pieces per pack?

Not directly. Convert pack contents to square metres or the requirement to pieces so both quantities use the same unit.
